Selection of Candidates for the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program (Academic Year 2009-2010)
Yaoundé, January 22, 2008
The Public Affairs Section of the United States Embassy in Yaoundé is pleased to announce the annual competition for the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program for the academic year 2009-2010. This one-year full scholarship program is offered to mid-career professionals who have a proven track record of leadership, a public service commitment, and the capacity to take full advantage of a self-defined program of independent study at a leading U.S. university. The program awards a certificate from the U.S. government; it is not designed to deliver an advanced degree.
Fellowships are available in the following fields: agricultural development or agricultural economics, communications/journalism, drug abuse and education, economic development, education, finance and banking, HIV/AIDS policy and prevention, human resource management law, human rights, natural resources and environmental management, nonproliferation, public health policy and management, public policy analysis and public administration, teaching English as a foreign language, trafficking in persons, and urban and regional planning.
To be eligible for the Humphrey Program, applicants must have:
- A first university degree or its equivalence.
- Five years of substantial professional experience
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and a record of public service
- Fluency in English; applicant must have a minimum TOEFL score of 550
- Limited prior experience in the U.S.
