U.S. Embassy Yaounde honors World Environment Day 2008

Environment Day
June 5, 2008 In honor of World Environment Day, the Embassy hosted June 5 an event with Cameroonian government officials, civil society, NGOs, and students to highlight the importance of “think globally, act locally,” a term coined in 1972 by Rene Dubos.

Ambassador Garvey addressed the opening session by calling for stronger implementation of existing child anti-trafficking laws and for the creation of a law to prohibit adult trafficking.

June 4, 2008 On June 4, the Embassy hosted the opening ceremony for a USG-funded American Bar Association (ABA) seminar titled “Promoting a Multi-Disciplinary Strategy to Combating Trafficking in Persons.” Ambassador Garvey addressed the opening session.
